Day 11 Cusco and Lima Peru

Today started in Cusco not as early as usual. We were delayed in Cusco and didn't arrive back to Lima until 5 PM, just enough time to change and go on our tour. The Hotel in Lima is the Miraflores Park and it is beautiful. I am sure the picture wont do it justice, but as nice as any I have stayed in.

The "tour" this evening was to a private home belonging to the family Aliaga. I guess he was one of the guys that came here originally to conquer the Inca. The home is directly next to the Presidential Palace on the main square in Lima. The gentlemen that gave us the tour is the 15th generation heir to own the home. It is only used now as a museum of sorts but he gave us a private tour and then we had a dinner in the dinning room which was unbelievably good and well served.

The house was originally built in the 1500's but has been rebuilt at various times by the family. Most of what you see is from the 17 and 18th century.

Thierry and Kevin and a wine glass?

The rooms were really well done and every piece of furnishings had it's own story.

Judy, Steve and Sophie and Steve is smiling????

El groupo in front of Casa Aliaga!

The Cathedral in the main square across the street from the Presidential Palace and the Casa Ariaga.
Tomorrow will be a long day ending up in Atacama which is the new "in" spot in Peru - we'll see.

I only got to go for a short walk in the sqaure to take a couple of pictures and the bus came to pick us up and take us back to the hotel.

  2. You've got to try the Cuy (aka guinea pig) before you leave Peru. It's best when you get one of those little suckers at a hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Take a picture of it when it is served to you and then DIG in! :)
Cereviche in Miraflores is to die for.
