Day 1 Midland Texas

Ok, so finally the trip begins. For those close to me I'll bet that is a good thing since I was a nervous wreck for weeks getting ready. I picked up the plane on Wed. morning and left Thursday at 1:30, luckily most things work. The weather today ended up being spectacular as you can see from the view in Van Nuys. The plane was really well organized as I worked on it till 1:30 am this morning. It wont look that way again for a while. The climb out of the LA basin was as beautiful as I have ever seen.

I went crazy with the camera as I want to make sure I take pictures so excuse the quantity. On the right is Mt. Baldy and Big Bear in the distance.

Below say goodbye to California as the Colorado River is passing off in the distance.

So far the plane worked well and the first leg was great, luckily I brought some food so the 3 hour trip (2:54 for my pilot friends - pretty good for about 900 miles) was much more enjoyable. The wind was a big factor today in my favor at altitude and an interesting croosswind landing at Midland.

Look at the gauges - get used to it. This is the same industrial park that slumdog millionaire was filmed.

I did have the best cheese steak sandwhich at the best western airport industrial park. Perks
